Presents the RICS Housing Market Survey for September 2009. Suggests that the new instructions net balance remains in positive territory but slipped back compared to August. New buyer enquiries continue to grow strongly, and sales expectations and price expectations have also improved, although the former are rising at a slower pace than in August. The net price balance is positive for the second consecutive month and markedly higher than in August. Shows that the seasonally adjusted balance of surveyors reporting rising rather than falling prices rose to 22% in September, the highest net balance since May 2007. Sales per surveyor increased to an average of 18, the highest level since March 2008. The sales to stock ratio rose to 29, its highest level since Deember 2007. Price expectations improved, with 25% of surveyors expecting prices to increase over the next three months.
