Online resources: Summary: In 2008, on a provisional estimate 80% of dwellings (including conversions) were built on previously-developed land, compared to 77% in 2007. This represents an increase of 1% from the provisional estimate published in July 2009. Since 1997, the proportion of dwellings built on previously-developed land has increased by 24%. London has the highest proportion of dwellings built on previous developed land, a total of 95%. The East of England has the smallest in proportion with 69%.
