Presents a summary of results from the 2009 Scottish Vacant and Derelict Land Survey (SVDLS), the 18th in the series. It is the only national data source for vacant and derelict land in Scotland. It highlights that there were 10 863 hectares of derelict and urban vacant land of which 24% were urban vacant and 76% were derelict. Since 2002, there has been an increase in the total amount of derelict and urban vacant (from 10 646 hectares in 2002 to 10 863 hectares in 2009). An average of 580 hectares of derelict and urban vacant land was brought back into use each year since 2002.
