The mix-adjusted average house price was £228 000 in May 2012 (not seasonally adjusted). Annual average house prices increased by 2.6% in England and by 3.5% in Wales but fell by 1% in Scotland and 10.3% in Northern Ireland. Taking forward the recommendations of the National Statistician's review of UK house price statistics in 2010. it has been agreed that the ONS index will be developed as the lead measure for house price movement with other official indices published by bodies such as Land Registry and Registers for Scotland continuing to publish house price data in existing formats.
