Reviews the less than enthusiastically received OFT report "Estate agency market in England and Wales" (J125768). There has been widespread disappointment among respected residential agency players such as RICS, the National Association of Estate Agents and high street agencies like the Bradford and Bingley at the modest recommendations by OFT for greater voluntary self-regulation of the much criticised residential agency industry, more competition among agents, more communication with clients and for more efficient audit trails. Tables the main findings of the report in respect of sellers, buyers and industry attitudes, highlights the public response to the proposed Home Information Packs and an OFT commissioned international investigation into residential agency practice in Australia, Denmark, Ireland, The Netherlands, Scotland and the USA.
