This will see the number of landfill sites permitted to accept hazardous waste from construction sites drop from 279 to less than 15. Currently construction materials make up 92% of waste going to landfill, of which 43% is hazardous. As a result of this directive, the recycling industry is expecting an increase in purchases of equipment such as shredders and screens.
