Regional GDP figures show need for active regional industrial strategy

The figures show that the average annual growth was 3.8%, with the south-east having the highest growth, at 5.1%, and the north-east the lowest at 2.3%. Although GDP per head was above £10,000 for all regions for the first time there were wide discrepancies with that in London being 30% higher than the national average and that in Northern Ireland 23% lower.
