Summary: The government is strengthening controls on the siting of mobile phone masts. Masts of 15 metres or less are being brought into the normal planning permission process. Both the period and the fess for dealing with applications are to be increased to allow for better consultation, including with school governors over new masts on or near schools and colleges.
