By: Contributor(s): Series: Structural Survey ; 19(4) 2001, 173-184(12)Publication details: 2001Subject(s): Summary: Presents an early publication of the results of an RICS Research Foundation Education Trust funded project investigating the use of modern non-destructive test equipment during commercial property surveys. Discusses the data collection and analysis phases of the project. Results suggest that new technology has made some impact. More surveyors are using digital cameras and electronic measurement aids. Use of endoscopes, some environmental measuring aids, metal detectors and electrical installation testing is evidently increasing. However, the survey also suggests that little use is being made of portable materials testing equipment. (Partly taken from journal headnote).
