The guidance will cover renewable energy including solar power, wind farms and biofuel. It will assist local planning authorities to take account of the wider and long-term environmental considerations of renewable energy developments, particularly in areas of landscape and environmental sensitivity, as well as the visual impact of new developments. It is intended that PPS22 and the as yet to be drafted companion guide will replace PPG22 (February 1993).
