Wayleave compensation comprises two elements divided between landowners and occupiers (owner-occupiers receive both). The recommendation as to the revised scales payable to landowners is effective from 1 April 2005 until 31 March 2009. Farmers do not need to apply to their electricity company for the increases. The occupiers' payment scales will continue at existing levels pending the outcome of continuing research by ADAS and discussions between electricity companies and the Country Land and Business Association, National Farmers Union and the Farmers Union of Wales.
