Language: English Series: Contract Journal ; 434(6585) 26 July 2006, 20-21(2)Publication details: 2006Subject(s): Summary: In the light of the announcement by the Department for Transport of a number of new road schemes recommended by the eight English regions, this article examines whether the involvement of the regions in the planning and prioritisation of major transport projects is likely to be positive. Its advocates argue that the regions will adopt a more holistic approach to transport planning, giving proper consideration to economic and housing benefits of major schemes.
