Government, firefighters and business work together to promote new, simpler and safer fire laws

From that date, the responsibility for fire safety in all buildings and structures except private homes and flats will lay with employers, the self-employed, voluntary organisations, those responsible for buildings with public access, and any contractor who exercises a degree of control over premises. Those responsible for fire safety are being urged to carry out a fire risk assessment before the above date.
