By: Contributor(s): Language: English Series: Journal of Property Investment and Finance ; 24(4) 2006, 343-362(20)Publication details: 2006Subject(s): Summary: Discusses current valuation services offered across Asia, with particular reference to valuation practice in Hong Kong. The study begins by examining the standards and codes of conduct which guide valuers working in these areas and the professional bodies, such as the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and the RICS to which they may belong. Discusses the results of a survey that was carried out to determine how behaviour and practice differ between valuations carried out in Hong Kong and China. Concludes that, whilst there are some similarities, there are also many differences in valuation practice in these two areas. Such variations are due to a number of factors, including differences in appraisal education and training and the relative availability of reliable market data.
