In the three months leading to December 2008, construction orders decreased by 9% compared with the previous quarter. Orders fell by 26% in the fourth quarter of 2008 compared to the fourth quarter of 2007. Orders in 2008 fell 16% compared to the amount of orders in 2007. Orders in the private housing sector declined by 57% in the quarter leading to December 2008 compared with the same period in 2007. Housing association orders were lower by 28% in the quarter leading to December 2008 compared with the same period in 2007.
