Positivity in store for self-storage sector

The Self Storage Association and Drivers Jonas Deloitte's 2012 annual survey shows some positive signs although the average rent fell slightly in 2011 to £12.06/sq ft. Average occupancy among mature facilities rose from 68% to 70% with business customers taking a higher share of occupied space (39%). Regionally London and the south still dominates in terms of share of floorspace. Currently there are 815 facilities in the UK and the 2011 UK turnover from 400 operators was £355m.
