Aims to develop an understanding of performance of passive fire protection in extreme events with the view to inform building regulations policy and, if necessary, add guidance to Approved Document B, in support of the fire safety aspects of the Building Regulations. Finds that products, systems and test methodologies are available to provide a higher level of protection than currently required by the Building Regulations. Provides several recommendations including the monitoring of passive fire protection in real fires.
