Framework agreements in the public sector

By: Series: Construction Law Bulletin ; March 2003, 15-17(3)Publication details: 2003Subject(s): Summary: Reviews the current position regarding the proposed EU directives for framework agreements. Under existing EC legislation, provision is made for procurement of works, supplies and services in water, energy, transport and telecommunication sectors to use framework agreements. However, in all other sectors these are not recognised by public sector bodies. In the future, the fact that a contractor, consultant or supplier has entered into a framework agreement will not necessarily mean that they will get a proportion of the awarders' contracts, or indeed any of them. However, the date when these new directives will come into force is not yet established.
