520			_aCame into force 2 January 2004. Implement Directive 2000/60/EC which establishes a framework for Community action in the field of water policy known as the water framework directive. The regulations require a new strategic planning policy to be established for the purposes of managing, protecting and improving the quality of water resources in river basin districts. The Environment Agency is responsible for preparing river basin management plans for each river basin district which must include results of technical analytical data, environmental objectives and proposals for programmes of measures.
