_vFirst Quarter 2002
520 _aFarmland values increased in the first quarter of this year, a third consecutive rise. Despite the passing of Foot-and-Mouth Disease, values continue to strengthen. The shortage of available farmland is the chief factor continuing to hold up prices. Demand has also strengthened since the previous quarter. Though price declines are still envisaged, expectations are considerably less pessimistic than in the same quarter last year.
