520 _aThe average house price for a residential property in Scotland decreased by 1.2% in the first quarter 2006 and stands at £124 481 compared to £125 934 in the last quarter, representing an 8% increase over the first quarter 2005. The highest average property price, £160 110, is again in the Lothian region and the highest year-on-year increase of 12.5% is in the southwest Scotland area where the average house now sells for £109 407. The Glasgow area remains the largest market with sales of almost £1.3bn for the period, 26.7% over the same period in 2005. The total sales value across Scotland during the quarter was almost £4bn, 23.6% more than the same quarter last year.
