520 _aHouse prices rose firmly in June, up at the fastest pace in just over two years. London and southeast England have seen the sharpest rises in six and a half and four years respectively but mostly moderate gains were in evidence elsewhere. Buyer enquiries increased across the country through June despite the distraction of the World Cup. Completed property sales for the past 12 months were up by 17.9% in June compared with a rise of only 8.1% last December. Surveyors view the outlook for house prices as the best since March 2004 and optimism for sales prospects is also upbeat on the back of robust rises in employment levels despite the fact that surveyors have expressed concerns over the market impact of a possible interest rate rise later in 2006.
