520 _aShows the farmland market gathering momentum in the year to the second quarter with prices rising by 9% compared to 3% in the first quarter. Demand for residential and non-residential farmland has risen with the latter outpacing the former. The resolution of the Single Farm Payment issue has lead to an increase in available land on the market in both the residential and non-residential sectors. Sales rose by 77% in the first quarter with activity the highest since the third quarter 2001. Surveyors have made upward revisions to their expectations for commercial farmland prices and expectations on the residential side remain buoyant.
