520 _aThe first RICS quarterly market analysis of property auctions reveals there were 4 557 residential properties sold at auction during the third quarter 2006, with London as the most active market. In terms of commercial property, there were 940 properties sold at auction during the same period, with southeast England as the most active market. Buying a property through an auction has become increasingly popular over the last 10 years with over 1 000 property auctions held in 2005, up from 141 in 1996.
