520 _aReveals that overall growth in world construction activity stayed positive in 2006, but was less dynamic than over the last few years. Demand was strongest in the markets of Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Global construction spending in 2006 was $4.6 trillion, up by 4.9% on 2005. The forecast for 2007 is a general slowdown in global construction activity, and over the medium term average global construction growth is predicted to slow to around 3% annually through to 2010. However, China, India and the countries of the former Soviet Union are promising exceptional growth rates during this period. The survey spans Africa, the Americas, Asia Pacific, Australasia, Europe and the Middle East.
