520 _aSets out the UK Government?s approach to utilising biomass technologies for energy production. The intention is to achieve a major increase in the supply and use of biomass. A biomass and market supply chain is to be established. Technology development will be encouraged to optimise energy yield. The purpose is to contribute toward UK carbon emission reduction targets and to make this fuel source competitive. An additional 1m tonnes will be sourced per year. The amount of energy crops will be increased. Supply from organic waste materials is to be increased.
