520 _aNotes that house prices rose further in April despite the HIP-related increase in supply. Prices rose for the eighteenth consecutive month. This momentum was driven primarily by prices in London, East Anglia and the South East. A number of sellers are listing their properties early to avoid the price of the HIPs. The stock of unsold properties is therefore rising. The ratio of completed sales to available property fell for the first time since May 2006. The strongest house price growth took place in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
