520 _aRural land prices rose strongly during the first half of 2007, increasing by 22.6% on a year earlier compared to an increase of 18.1% in the first half of the year. Demand for residential farmland is being driven by record bonuses paid in the City, generating strong demand from lifestyle buyers. Location is being seen as more important than soil quality according to surveyors. The weighted average price of farm land rose to £8 850 per hectare, up from £8 164 in H2 2006.
