520 _a The sixth annual survey of the state of England's historic environment charts the key changes which have occurred since 2002. Generally the situation has improved, with a slight increase in the number of listed buildings, scheduled monuments and historic parks and gardens. In addition, the proportion of Grade I and II buildings at risk dropped from 3.8% in 1999 to 3.2% in 2007. Challenges facing the sector include dealing with the most intractable buildings at risk, increasing access to the historic environment, delivering heritage protection reform, and managing decreasing resources. Includes nine separate reports for the English regions.
