520 _aThis guidance note is designed primarily to assist those individuals who are either nominated as adjudicators by RICS or by other adjudicator nominating bodies (ANBs), or appointed directly by the parties as adjudicators, to a dispute relating to works carried out under a construction contract as defined in Part II of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 (the Act). It is also intended to assist the parties themselves and those acting for them by making them aware of the procedures likely to be followed. However, the guidance should not be taken as a treatise on the law and practice of adjudication generally. This guidance note is based upon the law and practice in England and Wales. Readers should be aware that the law and practice in Scotland and Northern Ireland differ somewhat.
