520 _aThe key finding of this release is that 44 330 additional affordable homes were supplied in England in 2006/07, slightly less than in 2005/2006. By region, most affordable homes were created in London and the South East, with fewest in the North East. Reports that nearly 25 000 new affordable homes were supplied to the social rented sector in 2006/07. The Housing Corporation funded new build represented 70% of additional affordable homes supply in 2006/2007, up from 62% the previous year. Acquisitions by the Housing Corporation represented another 12% of gross additional supply in 2006/2007.
