520 _aFinds that UK house prices fell by 3.4% from August 2007. The mix-adjusted house price was £211 410, down from £217 171 in July. UK house prices fell by 2.4% in the quarter ending August 2008, compared with a fall of 0.2% in the quarter ending May 2008. Average house prices increased by 1.3% in Scotland, but fell in England (-3.4%); Wales (-4.3%) and Northern Ireland (-18.6%). Annual average house prices paid by first time buyers in August 2008 were 4.5% lower than a year ago. In contrast, house prices paid by former owner occupiers were 3.1% lower.
