520 _aPreliminary results for the English Housing Survey for the year beginning April 2007 show statistics and opinions gathered from 15 622 households and the 2008 Labour Force Survey on the residential property market in England. Key findings are presented on topics such as tenure, ethnicity and overcrowding. Owner occupation remains the most common type of tenure, although the number of owner occupiers has fallen from 14.7 to 14.6m since 2007. The private rented sector, on the other hand, has grown from 2.7m to 3m people and the number of younger households with a mortgage has fallen considerably (8%) since 2007. 2.7% of householders in England are subject to overcrowding and this is most pronounced in London, where the rate was 6.8%. Contains a range of tables and statistics.
