520 _aReports on house building starts and completions during the period of October to December 2008 in the UK. Updates statistics published in November 2008. Accompanying tables are available alongside this document on the website. From October to December 2008, there were around 16,300 new house building starts in England, down by 58% compared with the same quarter in 2007. An estimate of 32,300 houses was completed, representing a fall of 25% compared to the same quarter in 2007. For 2008, the estimate for house building starts is 105,000, a 37% decline compared with 2007.The figure for completions for the same period is 141,900 and corresponds to a decrease of 19% from 2007.
