520 _aPresents RICS Housing Market Survey for August 2009. Highlights a positive net price balance for the first time in two years as well as improvement in sales activity, though slower than in July 2009. Shows that the seasonally adjusted balance of surveyors reporting rising rather than falling prices rose to 11% in August, the highest net balance since May 2007. New buyer enquiries decreased slightly in June 2009. Newly agreed sales decreased as well. However, sales per surveyor increased to an average of 17, the highest level since May 2008. New instructions improved to 12% compared to 4% in July. The sales to stock ratio rose to 27, its highest level since January 2008. Price expectations improved, with 17% of surveyors expecting increase of prices over the next three months.
