520 _aUK house prices have increased by 8.4% since July 2009 and decreased by 0.3% since June 2010. The mix-adjusted average house price was £212 878 in July 2010 (not seasonally adjusted). UK house prices rose by 0.8% in the quarter ending July 2010 compared with a rise of 1.1% in the quarter ending April 2010 (seasonally adjusted). Annual average house prices rose by 9% in England, 3.7% in Scotland and 10.1% in Wales but fell in Northern Ireland by 17.1%. Annual average house prices paid by first time buyers in July 2010 were 7.5% higher than a year ago. By comparison average house prices paid by former owner occupiers were 8.7% higher. Annual average house prices paid for new properties in July 2010 were 9.5% higher than a year ago. By comparison average house prices paid on pre-owned dwellings were 8.3% higher.
