_vThird Quarter 2010
520 _aThe net balance of surveyors reporting rising rather than falling prices edged up further in the third quarter for 2010 with the All Lot price balance increasing from +24 to +26. Price rises at the mid range of the market gather momentum, in contrast to lower and higher end. The best performing sub-sectors continue to be silver and jewellery; the worst performing are contemporary art and books. Expected demand over the 12 months to third quartet 2011 is expected to outstrip supply, although the gap between the two is narrowing.
