520 _aUK house prices rose by 6.1% since August 2009 and fell by 0.8% since August 2010. The mix-adjusted average house price was £211 815 in September 2010 (not seasonally adjusted). UK house prices fell by 0.7% in the quarter ending September 2010 compared with a rise of 1.6% in the quarter ending June 2010 (seasonally adjusted). Annual average house prices rose by 6.5% in England, 1.4% in Scotland and 8.8% in Wales but fell in Northern Ireland by 7.6%. Annual average house prices paid by first time buyers in July 2010 were 4.6% higher than a year ago. By comparison average house prices paid by former owner occupiers were 6.7% higher. Annual average house prices paid for new properties in September 2010 were 5.6% higher than a year ago. By comparison average house prices paid on pre-owned dwellings were 6.2%.
