520 _aThe Centre for Infrastructure Management (CIM) at Sheffield Hallam University was commissioned by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) to conduct a scoping study into the possible development of an MOT test for buildings. The overall aim was to determine if a test could be developed to ensure that the objectives of the Building Regulations were achieved and retained throughout the life of a building. A high calibre Stakeholders' Group, covering all building disciplines, was convened which strongly reflected industrial opinion in developing the MOT structure. RICS is represented in the Steering Group.
