520 _aThis information paper looks at the requirements for compliance with the energy and carbon sections of Part L of the Building Regulations, in light of the revisions effected in October 2010. The following matters are considered: an explanation of the "flat" (residential) and "aggregate?" (non-domestic) approach; transition arrangements (when the new regulations are enforced); changes to the compliance software. Three cost model case studies - residential, commercial office and supermarket - are provided to demonstrate: likely changes to specifications; likely cost increases; changes in running costs; and measures that have the greatest carbon-reducing impact.
