520 _aLT 2 April 1996. The claimants sought compensation for the effects of a new fire station upon the values of their homes. Through use of indices and comparison of sale prices of nearby houses they claimed diminution in value of 33%. The defendants claimed noise control measures in place and that the claimant`s use of indices did not account for local market conditions or property types. There was therefore no evidence of diminution in value. "Held" compensation payable at £24,000 for first claimant and £12,500 for the second.
