520 _aValue Management (VM) is a well-established methodology for defining and maximising value for money. It can be applied to any type of project regardless of size or timeframe and at all stages throughout the life cycle of the project from inception to completion. The Office of Government Commerce (OGC) has joined with APM Group Ltd and the Institute of Value Management to produce a series of case studies which demonstrate how applying VM to public sector construction projects can result in first-class, wholelife value-for-money programmes and projects that ultimately lead to better public services. OGC's Achieving Excellence in Construction initiative (see Annex B) advocates the application of VM to construction projects. Case studies include Hextable Dance, Open University, Kintry Housing Partnership, Home Happening, NHS Teaching Hospital, Withington Community Hospital, and Antlers' Bridge in California, USA.
