520 _a[2009] EWCA Civ 1187, 12 November 2009. Appellant landlord K appealed against the dismissal of his objections to the grant of a new tenancy to the Respondent tenants P. P occupied a part of K's premises pursuant to a sub-lease and had carried on a small news agency business on the premises since 1991. P applied for the lease to be renewed and K objected under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 s.30(1)(g) on the basis that he himself proposed to carry on a news agency business on the premises. "Held": Appeal dismissed. Where a tenant had sought to renew his business tenancy, and the landlord objected on the basis he proposed to carry on a business himself on the premises, the judge had been entitled to conclude that the landlord had not shown the necessary intention to occupy premises for the purpose of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 s30(1)(g) as the intention to occupy was only temporary.
