520 _aUK house prices increased by 0.1% since December 2010 and by 0.4% since November 2011. The mix-adjusted average house price was £205 269 in December 2011 (not seasonally adjusted). UK house prices increased by 0.4% in the quarter ending December 2011 compared with 0.6% in the quarter ending September 2011(seasonally adjusted). Annual average house prices increased by 0.5% in England but fell by 4.6% in Scotland, 1.6% in Wales and 8.1% in Northern Ireland. Annual average house prices paid by first time buyers in December were 1.6% higher than a year ago. Average house prices paid by former owner occupiers decreased by 0.5%. Annual average house prices paid for new properties in December 2011 were 9.5% higher than a year ago. By comparison average house prices paid on pre-owned dwellings were 0.6% lower.
