520 _aThis report takes a broad interpretation of the term "smart" and examines 10 cities across Asia that "are large scale developments which aim to achieve economic, environmental and social sustainability through the systematic integration of ICT into their planning, design, operations and management" with a view to assessing the current level of smart integration and future smart status and opportunities of each. The cities (and markets) were selected by taking into account their potential level of interest to UK companies, and following an initial review of their 'smart' status. The report centres on smart initiatives across six themes: energy, buildings and the environment, digital media, education, health, and transport, and looks at Hong Kong, Jakarta (Indonesia), Tokyo (Japan), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Manila (Philippines), Singapore, Seoul (South Korea), Taipei (Taiwan), Bangkok (Thailand) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam).
