_aHometrack Monthly National Housing Survey _v27 February 2012 |
|
| 520 | _aFebruary 2012 saw a marked improvement in housing market conditions off the back of a robust seasonal upturn in demand. The number of buyers registering with agents grew by 18%, the strongest level of demand seen since the start of the downturn and higher than the 15% increase in potential buyers recorded in February 2009. Activity levels were boosted by first time buyers looking to beat the stamp duty holiday which ends on 24 March. The stock of housing for sale grew by 10%. Howeber, with investors and first time buyers not having property to sell, the growth in demand over the month out-paced the increase in supply across nearly all regions. A scarcity of supply remains a key feature of the market. Overall pricing levels remain unchanged. | ||
