520 _aThe study monitored domestic electrical appliances in a total of 251 owner-occupier households across England over the period of April 2010 to April 2011. Objectives included the identification of the range and quantity of electrically powered appliances, products and gadgets found in the typical home and to monitor total electricity consumption. Findings include the discovery of relatively high appliance usage by single person households and the fact total standby consumption is as much as 16% of domestic power demand.
