520 _aA paper presented at the COBRA Conference in New Delhi on 10-12 September 2013. Looks at the extent of discounts being offered by quantity surveyors in South Africa. The study found that the majority of quantity surveyors are offering discounts when tendering to provide quantity surveying services. A minority offers less than 10%, the majority offering up to 30% but some offering more than 50% discount. The study identified discounts that may possibly be unsustainable. The study also revealed that discounts offered to public sector clients tend to exceed discounts offered to private sector clients.
