520 _aA paper presented at the COBRA Conference in New Delhi on 10-12 September 2013. Critically reviews UK waste policy changes over the past two decades and examines their implications for the management of construction and demolition (C&D) waste. The main state interventions that have had an impact on the construction industry are the requirement of construction project clients to prepare and implement site waste management plans for their developments as well as the progressively increasing landfill charges.
