520 _aProvides an introduction to MEES and the potential impact of the regulations on UK property management and valuation. The scope and various exemptions of MEES for non-domestic and domestic properties is also discussed as well as advice for landlords. MEES are a key part of the strategic approach of the UK government to significantly reduce carbon emissions. Meeting these targets requires improvement of much of the built stock. This will have an impact on both domestic and non-domestic property markets. This insight paper is designed to inform property owners, managers and valuers of the potential implications of MEES, which come into force on 1 April 2018.
